Walt Disney World in Orlando got a new roller coaster on May 26. Well, an old rollercoaster got a new makeover: the Aerosmith Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, which opened at the park’s Disney’s Hollywood Studios in 1999, is now the Muppets Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster with house band Dr Teeth & The Electric Mayhem as the new stars of the show. Here’s the storyline:
The Electric Mayhem is headlining the most buzzworthy concert Hollywood has ever seen. Dr. Teeth, Animal, Floyd, Janice, Zoot, and Lips are ready to rock the house – and everyone who’s anyone will be there.
There’s just one little problem – the band is nowhere to be found!
Your VIP tour kicks off inside G-Force Records—an iconic rock-and-roll recording studio where the magic (and mayhem) is just getting started.
As Stereogum points out, the ride is soundtracked by The Electric Mayhem covering a few well known rock songs and on some of them they get help from famous musicians:
Before you actually get on the coaster, the ride’s line weaves through The Electric Mayhem’s studio for some video segments featuring Weird Al, Travis Barker, John Stamos, Ken Marino, Awkwafina, and more. The studio also features Scooter which uses Audio‑Animatronics performance capture that makes it seem like he’s being operated by a live muppeteer.
