The Olivia Tremor Control announce first album in 27 years, ‘The Same Place’

The Olivia Tremor Control were one of the bands most emblematic of the Elephant 6 collective, which late co-founders Bill Doss and Will Cullen Hart helped found. Doss’ death in 2012 put any further activity from the band on hold, but in 2017 The Apples in Stereo‘s Robert Schneider revealed he was working on unfinished recordings from them. They’ve now announced their third and final album, The Same Place, due out October 23 via Elephant 6. It’s their first album in 27 years, since 1999’s Black Foliage: Animation Music Volume 1, and it includes “27 new previously unreleased tracks.” See the cover art and tracklist below.

Two tracks off the album, “The Same Place” and “Garden of Light,” were released on November 29, 2024, the same day we learned of Hart’s death. They were previously on the Elephant 6 Recording Co documentary soundtrack that was out on vinyl that Record Store Day Black Friday, and you can stream them below.
