Cult folk artist Seasick Steve is back with a new album, The Last Season of America, which will be out September 18 on Steve’s new label Eastcote Recordings.
The album was inspired by a coast-to-coast drive Steve and his wife took in 2024 just before the election. “We drove across the country from Miami to LA,” he says. “We thought we was gonna have an amazing time but we were mostly sad, so much homelessness and division.”
The new single off The Last Season of America is its title track, a searing indictment of the current administration. “We got a criminal running this place. He got lies written all over his face,” Steve sings, but he adds it’s not all hopelessness. “There’s bad things, but we still can change. If you believe in hope, we can rearrange. I still believe in the power of love.”
You can watch the video for that and listen to two other songs from the album, “Bad Things” and “Somebody,” below.
