If there was any doubt Geese and Cameron Winter have entered the public zeitgeist, SNL has deemed him big enough to parody. Last night’s SNL featured a commercial for the Random Duets Christmas Spectacular which was based on the ’70s David Bowie / Bing Crosby “Little Drummer Boy” performance. Cameron (James Austin Johnson) performed “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” with Benson Boone (uncredited stunt-person).
Also on the fictional special: holiday pairings of Katy Perry & Bob Dylan, Kate Bush & Yoko Ono, Bruce Springsteen & Bad Bunny, Post Malone & Bjork, Stevie Wonder & Benson Boone (again), and Andrea Bocelli & Celine Dion. James Austin Johnson wins the MVP here playing not only Winter, but also Dylan and Bocelli and he nailed all three.
This was the SNL holiday episode, hosted by Wicked star Ariana Grande and featuring Cher as musical guest (her first time doing so since 1987!). It was also the final episode for Grande’s co-star Bowen Yang who is leaving the show mid-season. Watch highlighted sketches, including the return of Yang and Aidy Bryant’s “Trendsetters” duo on Weekend Update, below.
