Calvin Harris Sued Financial Advisor Thomas St. John—Now Eric Prydz is Suing Him Too

Swedish DJ Eric Prydz becomes the latest artist to sue business manager Thomas St. John, alleging stolen funds.

On the heels of Calvin Harris suing his former financial advisor Thomas St. John in September, Eric Prydz becomes the latest prevalent artist to take legal action against the Hollywood business manager. The Swedish DJ and producer is suing St. John in California state court with accusations of fraud and the theft of $269,000.

According to Prydz’s attorneys, St. John is “supposed to be trustworthy and reliable” and should be “acting in the best interests of his client.” But instead, “he is a fraud who not only abuses the trust of his clients, he takes money from them without their knowledge or authorization for his personal use and benefit.”

The filing says Prydz was a client of St. John’s since about 2012, during which time St. John provided “standard financial services” to the artist, which included tax planning and filing, record keeping, and touring services.

But after signing a new “Terms of Business” agreement with Prydz in 2023, St. John began “paying himself for services,” allegedly including those that “were not within the [Terms of Business] and for matters for which he did not obtain Prydz’s approval.”

Prydz’s manager reported discovering that St. John had paid himself $219,000 for services he was “never authorized to perform.” Upon making the discovery, the manager terminated St. John’s contract. Further, after being notified that his contract was being terminated, St. John allegedly withdrew $50,000 without authorization from Prydz’s accounts.

As one of his last acts working for the DJ, St. John agreed to file a tax return for Prydz on October 15. However, the filing claims that just before the tax deadline, St. John demanded payment of $150,000 for “unapproved, out of scope” services before filing the tax documents. The complaint says this was extortion; Prydz did not pay, and St. John did not file the tax documents.

“As a direct result of [St. John’s] malicious conduct to hold Prydz’s financial documents hostage, Prydz has been unable to complete and file the now past due tax forms,” the filing reads.

Prydz is seeking repayment of $269,000, plus punitive damages, legal, and court costs. While attorneys for St. John have denied the allegations against their client levied by Calvin Harris, as of press time they have not responded to media requests for comment on Eric Prydz’s litigation.
