Morgan Wallen Responds to ‘Nonsense’ After Show Cancellation

Morgan Wallen’s second show in Pittsburgh over the weekend was cancelled due to the threat of bad weather, leaving fans disgruntled when the storm didn’t roll in.

Morgan Wallen made the decision after consulting with multiple parties to cancel his Saturday show in Pittsburgh at Acrisure Stadium due to inclement weather. Wallen played his first show on Friday night at the venue, featuring local legend, Olympic gold medalist and former WWE star Kurt Angle. But fans were miffed at the sudden cancellation of the second show.

Now, Wallen has taken to Instagram to address the criticism.

“I did the best I could with the information I had in that moment,” Wallen said in a video posted to his Instagram story on Saturday night. “I’ve been seeing a lot of nonsense about me that is simply not true, and I just wanted to clear the air. I think my true fans know that that’s not how I operate in general, but I had to say it.”

According to Wallen, his team approached him on his tour bus in the morning, telling him they’d been consulting with local officials and that he should cancel that night’s show. Wallen said he asked why and was told strong winds would be in the region.

“So that’s what I did, and that was the information I had in the moment, and I trusted my team,” said Wallen, adding that the wind hadn’t reached Pittsburgh yet by the time he posted the video, but that his heart went out to those who were affected by it.

“The truth of the matter is I have a large stage that in those conditions could become fatal to a lot of folks around it,” he added.

Wallen announced the cancellation shortly after 1 PM on Saturday, citing a consultation with local officials and his own team.

“There is no choice but to cancel tonight’s show due to severe adverse weather conditions expected throughout the rest of the day and night,” read the announcement. “Safety for my fans and crew is the highest priority. Refunds available at point of purchase.”

Concerning storms moved into the Pittsburgh area around 2:15 PM, but dissipated by 4 PM. Meanwhile, scattered strong storms impacted the area later in the evening, but most remained south of Pittsburgh.

Meanwhile, in another part of the world, inclement weather in Barcelona forced several acts to cancel their sets at Primavera Sound Festival. Organizers announced last week that performances by Massive Attack, Doja Cat, and Bad Gyal would not go ahead as planned shortly before they were expected to hit the stage on Thursday night.

Earlier that day, Alex G and Mac DeMarco’s sets were also cancelled due to weather warnings. Thursday tickets will be refunded, according to festival organizers, with more information about the process to be announced on Monday.
