The lineup of performers announced in the lead-up to each year’s Super Bowl seems to draw more headlines than the game itself, with the event drawing millions of viewers worldwide. This year, for the Super Bowl’s 60th edition, the roster includes artists with vastly different musical identities, which has prompted much discussion (and debate) over the show’s direction. Here’s a full rundown of the performances you can expect at Super Bowl LX on February 8.
Charlie Puth will perform the National Anthem, while Brandi Carlile will sing “America the Beautiful,” and Coco Jones will perform “Lift Every Voice and Sing” during the pregame ceremony.
Bay Area natives Green Day will perform at the opening ceremony with a tribute honoring Super Bowl MVPs as part of the NFL’s broader 60th anniversary celebration.
“We are super hyped to open Super Bowl 60 right in our backyard!” said frontman Billie Joe Armstrong. “We are honored to welcome the MVPs who’ve shaped the game and open the night for fans all over the world. Let’s have fun! Let’s get loud!”
The combination of Green Day and Bad Bunny has drawn some ire from far-right extremists. Both artists have been outspoken critics of President Trump; in fact, Trump even confirmed this week that he will not be in attendance at this year’s game, as he is “anti-them,” referring to Green Day and Bad Bunny.
Meanwhile, there’s a slew of special events and performances kicking off this week in the Bay Area ahead of the big game on Sunday.
On Thursday, tune into Noah Kahan’s pregame concert presented by SiriusXM and Pandora; Fall Out Boy at the Regency Ballroom for a Wells Fargo Autograph Card Exclusive; DJ sets from Illenium at People’s Pregame by NPU Live; and Loud Luxury and Frank Walker for Tight Ends & Friends, hosted by NFL tight ends Travis Kelce, George Kittle, and Greg Olsen.
Besides Posty, Friday brings more performances, including Sting’s exclusive set for Super Bowl LX Studio 60; Calvin Harris and Diplo at NPU Live; Luke Combs, Teddy Swims, Stephen Wilson Jr., Gavin Adcock, and LaRussell perform at the Madden Bowl; Olivia Dean and special guest Shaboozey will play The One Party by Uber; T-Pain, Tiesto, Disco Lines, and DJ Diesel (Shaquille O’Neal) will perform at Shaq’s Fun House; and Green Day and Counting Crows headline the FanDuel x Spotify Super Bowl party.
