So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.

ABI REIMOLD – “DRINKING SONG”

Philly indie singer/songwriter Abi Reimold has announced their first album in a decade, Picking Stones, due out on March 3. The first single is the gently soaring “Drinking Song.”

MORE EAZE – “HEALING ATTEMPT”

“This piece has a lot of the core messaging and meaning of the record,” more eaze says of “healing attempt,” the latest single off her new album sentence structure in the country. “It’s about the juxtaposition of going throughout your day, living through life’s mundanities while there’s all these looming traumatic things in the background of your life that you’re subtly carrying behind you. It’s just there in the background until it’s right in front of you. ‘healing attempt’ was a song I wrote while I was falling in love with Wendy [Eisenberg], so I wanted them to sing on it. It’s a song about falling in love and having good things happen, but there’s still this pit of trauma inside of you. And that creates a kind of tension even when you’re feeling good and relieved. I was taking things I do genuinely love like Scritti Politti or High Llamas or The Sea and Cake and using those influences in a way I feel like I really haven’t allowed myself the permission to express before. Being with Wendy kind of helped me realize ‘oh I can do this and I love this music,’ and it’s sort of a duet for that reason.”

FCUKERS – “BEATBACK”

NYC dance duo Fcukers have shared another single from their forthcoming debut album that owes a lot of millenium-era club culture.

MARIACHI EL BRONX – “SONGBIRD”

Mariachi el Bronx’s first new album in 12 years is out this Friday, and ahead of its release they’ve shared a final new single, “Songbird.” Blaise Cepis, who directed the accompanying video, says, “whenever I direct a music video, I’m just trying to make something 11-year-old me would’ve stayed up late hoping to catch on 120 Minutes or Headbangers Ball. Thankfully I found 8 kindred spirits in Mariachi el Bronx, who were the most incredible collaborators and were down for anything. I had such a great time with the band and the insanely talented gorgeous cast, I think 11-year-old me would approve.”

ROBBER ROBBER – “WATCH FOR INFECTION”

Real emotions and moments inspired the feelings of ‘Watch for Infection,’ but the story is made up,” Nina Cates says of Robber Robber’s new single. “Internal dialogue, ‘Watch for Infection’ as a reminder to take care of your shit and don’t let it bring you down in perpetuity. Don’t get bitter.” The band’s new album, Two Wheels Move the Soul, is out April 3.

BONNIE ‘PRINCE’ BILLY – “HEY LITTLE”

“’Hey Little’ was written years ago for someone else to sing,” Will Oldham says of the new single from upcoming album We Are Together Again. “Now I am a father; the lyrics are realigned and rearranged. Catherine Irwin sings with great soul. I asked Ryder McNair to listen to Madonna’s ‘Dear Jessie’ for inspiration on the string arrangements. Brent Stewart and his daughter Maya brought a creative partnership to the video-making process. The shoot was seamless and joyful. Brent spoke of wanting to incorporate double-exposure (they shot on film) and I mentioned the Burt Lancaster film The Swimmer. Both Maya and Brent jumped on that idea with gusto, and friends here in Louisville let us film in their indoor pool in the dead of winter. Notable of course is Thomas Deakin’s beautiful clarinet solo. And the real live goats.”

THE NEW PORNOGRAPHERS – “PURE STICKER SHOCK”

“This song is not about a specific event, but it has felt very ‘applicable’ to me and this year of my life,” AC Newman says of “Pure Sticker Shock,” adding, “It basically asks the question ‘What has worth? Who is deciding?’ Your market value is not always your value.” New Pornographers’ The Former Site Of is out March 27.

GUM (POND, TAME IMPALA) – “CELLULOID”

GUM (aka Jay Watson also of Pond & Tame Impala) has today announced his 7th album, Blue Gum Way, which will be out March 6. “Everything feels worse in the middle of the night, it’s where peak worry and catastrophizing happens,” Jay says of the album’s first single. “Exacerbated by a slow death from blue screen light and brain rot.”

ORA COGAN – “DIVISION”
