Low’s Alan Sparhawk announces Knockdown Center show with Circuit des Yeux & Polica

Having recently played Big Ears, Alan Sparhawk of Low has a few more shows coming up, and he’s added a new NYC headlining date at Ruins at Knockdown Center on June 18. It’s with Circuit des Yeux and Poliça, and tickets are on sale now.

Sparhawk also joined Circuit des Yeux’s Haley Fohr at a recent performance of her “Wordless Music” piece, which she originally performed in 2019, at the Guggenheim in NYC. They’ll also be bringing the piece to California in May, at San Francisco’s Exploratorium on May 28 and Los Angeles’ 2220 Arts + Archives on May 30 (which is also with Deradoorian).

Bill, who saw Sparhawk at Big Ears — which was with Trampled by Turtles, who don’t appear to be on the Knockdown Center show — wrote about that:

I would’ve stayed for all of Laurie’s set, but I had to hoof it across town (I walked about 35 miles between Thursday and Sunday) to catch the last set of the night: Low’s Alan Sparhawk with bluegrass band Trampled by Turtles at The Mill & Mine. They were transcendent, even better than their very good collaborative 2025 album, and you could tell that Sparhawk’s weird streak — which helped give us Low’s final two albums — had rubbed off just a little on Trampled by Turtles, while he clearly reveled in the band’s musicianship. At one point Sparhawk took it all in and let it flow through his body, dancing like there was no tomorrow (and looking a little like Thom Yorke while doing so). Their version of Low’s “Days Like This” was definitely one of my single favorite moments of the fest.
