Boston hardcore/Oi! band Haywire have been everywhere lately. They’re about to begin a tour with their veteran neighbors Dropkick Murphys in a few days, and as previously mentioned, those two bands will be selling a tour-only vinyl split LP called New England Forever at the shows. The LP includes the collaborative Dropkick Murphys / Haywire song “Citizen I.C.E.” (a reworking of DKM’s 2005 song “Citizen C.I.A.”) that was recently teased, and that song has now been digitally released in full. Here are some choice lyrics from the timely, powerful song:
Come celebrate dictatorships and bolster the regime
While abusing helpless immigrants, a bully’s wet dream
You’ve joined the traitor’s ranks to play the hand of God
In a scumbag grifters kidnapping squadNow they’ve poorly trained an army for our kids to fear today
The gave ’em masks and weapons and sent them on their way
They’re knee-deep in proud boys, yeah, thе party never stops
Too scared to join thе military, too dumb to be a cop

Meanwhile, Dropkick Murphys aren’t the only band Haywire are collaborating with these days. They just posted a photo from Taylor Young’s studio The Pit with heavy shoegazers Nothing and captioned it “something with Nothing.” That’s all we know for now, but Nothing are great collaborators too and that’s a very exciting prospect. Nothing will be busy with their own new album, tour, and festivals this year too.

Dropkick Murphys also aren’t the only veteran band that Haywire will be touring with this year. They just announced that they’ll support the back-in-action metalcore veterans Poison The Well on a short Australia tour in June. That comes after PTW’s upcoming North American tour with Converge, and it’ll find PTW performing their classic 1999 debut album The Opposite of December in full as well as supporting their first album in 17 years, Peace In Place.
