Sophistipop vets Haircut 100 have announced details of their first studio album with frontman Nick Heyward since their 1982 debut, Pelican West. It’s titled Boxing the Compass and will be out March 20 via Map of England. In addition to Nick, the album features original members Graham Jones (guitar), Les Nemes (bass), and drummer Blair Cunningham.
“‘Boxing the Compass’ is the traditional way of finding out where you are on land or sea using the compass rose,” Nick says of the title. “We’re arriving back at the port we left 43 years ago with a log of songs from our personal travels. Wherever I’ve been in the world, I’ve always been Nick Heyward of Haircut 100 and we’re all ready to set sail again for more adventures on the high seas.”
The album includes last year’s single “The Loving Plumb” and the new single off the album is “Dynamite,” which they played on their recent North American tour. With bright horns and funky disco style, it’s very much in line with Haircut 100 classics like “Favourite Shirts (Boy Meets Girl)” and “Lemon Firebrigade.” Check it out below.
