Emo revival vets Empire! Empire! announce reunion tour (dates with Knapsack and Emperor X)

Emo revival really is back. Algernon Cadwallader just announced a new album, Good Luck are teasing something, and now Empire! Empire! (I Was a Lonely Estate) have announced a reunion tour leading up to their appearance at Best Friends Forever.

Empire! Empire! previously said they’d only return if their beloved Detroit Lions win the Super Bowl, which hasn’t happened yet, but after announcing their BFF set, they called the festival “probably one of the most rare exceptions of all time” and said they couldn’t pass up playing with “almost all of [their] biggest influences.” They also clarified that the Lions promise is still on “and what back means will include a tour and new music and not just a couple of shows.” Now it looks like they’re bending their own rules for this tour, but hey, we’re not complaining.

Most of the tour is with Emperor X, but they’re also playing a San Diego show with Knapsack, who also play BFF and who are probably one of the bands that Empire! Empire! meant when they said “almost all of our biggest influences.” Find the tour poster with all dates below.
