That’s one way to get out of a record deal: Pooh Shiesty is now facing federal charges – and the possibility of life in prison – for allegedly kidnapping and robbing three individuals amid an ill-advised attempt to exit a contract.

The Justice Department formally announced the criminal complaint (and held a related press conference) today. Meanwhile, local outlets including Action News 5 captured footage of an FBI raid on a Memphis home associated with the rapper.

Beginning with the actual complaint, Pooh Shiesty (real name Lontrell Williams) has been charged alongside eight others – among them his father as well as artist Big30 (real name Rodney Wright).

According to the complaint, “three music industry professionals” in January 2026 traveled to Dallas for a meeting, arranged by Pooh Shiesty, to discuss Shiesty’s deal with Gucci Mane’s 1017 and Warner Music’s Atlantic.

And once those three professionals – Gucci Mane having been identified as a victim by WATN and others – entered the recording-studio meeting place, they were allegedly subjected to “a coordinated armed takeover” by all nine defendants.

On the “armed” front: Pooh Shiesty allegedly “produced an AK-style pistol and forced one of the victims to sign a release from the recording contract at gunpoint.” Unsurprisingly, given the release, the DOJ during its press conference described Pooh Shiesty as the alleged crime’s “ringleader.”

Not stopping there, the defendants – eight of whom have already been arrested – allegedly choked a victim “to the point of near unconsciousness” before robbing all three of watches, cash, and more.

(When it comes to the kidnapping element, one of the allegedly responsible parties is said to have “barricaded the studio door with his body to prevent the victims from escaping.”)

Then, doing their part to help law enforcement, the alleged culprits are said to have posted social media videos showing “what appeared to be some of the stolen jewelry.”

Per the complaint, prosecutors also tied the accused to the alleged crime with fingerprints, rental car records (several of the alleged perpetrators had traveled from Pooh Shiesty’s native Memphis), and, for Pooh Shiesty himself, electronic monitoring data.

Regarding the latter, the “FDO” act, who was released from prison on a gun charge in October, was meant to be on home detention at the time of the alleged crime.

Gucci Mane doesn’t seem to have commented publicly on the arrests or the episode at the complaint’s center. As mentioned, all nine defendants are facing a maximum sentence of life in prison.
