So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.

BLARF (ERIC ANDRÉ) – “WHAT’S FOR DINNER”

While best known as a comedian, Eric André also makes music — he’s a Berkeley grad — occasionally under the name BLARF. Film Scores for Films That Don’t Exist is the first BLARF record in seven years and features full orchestras in Budapest and Los Angeles. Get a taste of “What’s For Dinner.”

VOMIT FORTH – “PROPHECY OF DEFILEMENT”

Northeast hardcore-infused death metallers Vomit Forth are following their 2024 album Terrified Of God with a new EP, In The Name of The Father, due out April 23 via Pure Noise. “We once again pushed ourselves to make even crazier songs,” they say, and they’ve shared the first, “Prophecy of Defilement.”

PETER GABRIEL – “TILL YOUR MIND IS SHINING”

“‘The song began around a chord sequence which I liked and which felt quite poppy and playful, so I just kept on playing around with it till I had something,” Peter Gabriel says of the latest full moon single release from the upcoming album o/i. “Of all the songs that I’ve written for i/o and o\i this is probably the poppiest for me. It takes me back to my schooldays, in some ways, because before there was Genesis we were effectively trying to be songwriters more than musicians – pop songs or soul / R&B songs. I think this song connects me back to some of those roots and the sort of thing that I was working on then and trying to master.”

ROSTAM – “YOUNG LION”

Rostam’s third album, American Stories, arrives next month, and given us another preview with “Young Lion.” “The piano melody in ‘Young Lion’ was always inspired by the Persian music I grew up with,” he says. “In this version that line passes from Jack’s piano, to my guitar, and then finally to Amir on Saz. I love that this melody can live all these different lives inside this one song.”

WEIRD NIGHTMARE – “WHERE I BELONG”

Here’s another buzzsaw earworm from Weird Nightmare’s upcoming second album Hoopla.

BLEACHERS – “THE VAN”

Bleachers have given us a third early taste of their new album everyone for ten minutes with the multifaceted “the van.”

THE REDS, PINKS AND PURPLES – “HOUSES”

“This song is atypical for me in that it’s in 6/8 time and also because it’s not directly about people,” says The Reds Pinks & Purples’ Glenn Donaldson. “It’s about the places in-between houses, where plants grow, and objects accumulate. They maybe have a life too. My friend Steven R. Smith plays the baritone guitar in the left channel, and the video is by Katiana Mashikian, who plays bass in The Reds, Pinks & Purples live band and is a member of April Magazine.” New album Acknowledge Kindness will be out April 24.

DEB NEVER – “ALL THE TIME”

Deb Never has given us another preview of her debut album, Arcade, with “All The Time,” which she says is “one of my favorite songs off the album.”

GIA MARGARET – “ALIVE INSIDE”

Gia Margaret has given us another early taste of her new album Singing with the beautiful “Alive Inside,” which she says “was written during a difficult season of my life that was soothed by many hours staring out at the lake. I recorded it in Eau Claire with Sean Carey, who leant his gorgeous voice and production to it. This was the first time I had stepped into a studio in years and I felt terrified. But hearing it blossom encouraged me to keep moving in more ways than one. Additional drum programming and vocal production by my long-time collaborator and exceptional engineer/producer/artist, Doug Saltzman who I also mixed the song with. Our teamwork has been a huge component of my vocal music up until this point. Grateful to the heart of collaboration.”
