PARMA Recordings has announced the acquisition of classical label MSR Classics and its catalog of nearly 800 commercial releases. Founded in 1998 by music industry veteran Robert LaPorta, the company will become a new member of the PARMA family of labels, with PARMA assuming responsibility for MSR’s operations and catalog administration.
Following their previous acquisition of Albany Records, PARMA is now the administrator of approximately 4,000 commercial releases between MSR, Navona, Ravello, Big Round, Ansonica, and Albany.
“It is an honor to welcome MSR Classics into the PARMA family,” said PARMA CEO Bob Lord. “Robert’s long commitment to creating a culture of excellence and presenting high-quality, inspired classical music recordings to audiences worldwide aligns perfectly with our philosophy here at PARMA. We are proud to ensure that the label’s prestigious catalog continues to grow and reach new audiences.”
“The story of MSR has always been one of dedication to quality and artistic integrity,” said Robert LaPorta, founder of MSR Classics. “In PARMA we have found a home that respects and preserves the legacy we’ve built and is committed to carrying it forward with creativity and ambition. This opens a wonderful new chapter for our artists, where PARMA will provide uninterrupted digital distribution, royalty administration, and continued visibility for their work.”
PARMA Recordings was founded in 2008 by musician, producer, and CEO Bob Lord. The company has devoted itself to producing, presenting, and preserving classical and contemporary music. The parent organization of several label imprints, PARMA has full-time employees spanning Los Angeles to Prague, where they operate their recording facility Studio Martinek.
Dedicated to bringing a diverse range of high-quality orchestra, chamber, and choral classical music to the public, MSR Classics has released nearly 800 titles featuring a worldwide repertoire of talent.
