THING cancel 1 of 4 shows due to visa issues & “community safety concerns”

THING, the Washington festival organized by Sasquatch founder Adam Zacks, was scheduled to happen as a series of shows over four Saturdays in August at Carnation, WA’s Renlinger Farms this year. Three of those Saturdays are still happening, but the scheduled August 16 show, which was to have featured Mon Laferte, Yahritza y Su Esencia, Thee Sinseers, Rubén Albarrán, Angélica Garcia, Terror/Cactus + Pahua, and Lucia Flores-Wiseman, has now been cancelled. A message from THING reads:

In light of recent events affecting our community, we have made the very difficult decision to cancel the August 16 THING Festival date, which was specially curated to showcase some of music’s most exceptional Latinx and Spanish-language artists.

Community safety concerns have greatly reduced tickets sales, and the uncertainty about artists’ ability to secure the necessary visas has led to our decision.

We stand with our broader community and remain committed to prioritizing attendee and artist safety, and to ensure our events are a positive and memorable arts experience. We want to sincerely thank the artists, our community partners and sponsors, and everyone behind the scenes who worked tirelessly to bring this unique event to life.

Refunds will be automatically processed to all August 16 ticket holders to the original form of payment within 7 to 10 business days.

The rest of the 2025 THING lineup features Father John Misty, Orville Peck, Deep Sea Diver, Jessica Pratt, Hamilton Leithauser, Haley Heynderickx, and Clover on August 2; Rainbow Kitten Surprise, The Japanese House, Medium Build, Soccer Mommy, Truman Sinclair, Chinese American Bear, and Rose Peak on August 9; and The Roots, Cory Wong, Glass Beams, Tune-Yards, Tunde Adebimpe, Parlor Greens, and PNW Mic Check on August 23. Details and tickets are here.
