The Pandora parent disclosed its third-quarter financials today, and admittedly, the breakdown is free of fireworks. But in keeping with the above-noted improvements, it does point to a solid performance for the business during the three-month stretch, which delivered $2.15 billion in revenue (down about 0.3% year over year).
Therein, subscriber revenue was essentially flat at $1.63 billion, with a $1 million YoY increase for adverts (to $456 million) and a 16% decrease for equipment (to $36 million).
Per CFO Zac Coughlin, the latter downward movement was “primarily due to elevated memory costs associated with our hardware modules.” Meanwhile, podcasting is said to have turned in 20% advertising growth on the quarter, against a 21% programmatic adverts improvement, both of which were “partially offset by a decline in streaming music advertising.”
Furthermore, Pandora Plus and Premium had 5.5 million self-pay subs at the quarter’s conclusion (down 3% YoY), compared to 38.8 million overall monthly active users (down 7% YoY). And the platform’s ad-supported listening hours sunk about 10% YoY to 2.25 billion during Q3, the report indicates.
The figures differ from those associated with SiriusXM’s satellite radio showing, referring first to 5,000 self-pay subscriber net additions (up from a net loss of 40,000 during the prior-year period) to 31.3 million.
Returning to the initially highlighted average-listening-time surge, higher-ups emphasized “growth across every subscriber tenure group” – and strong consumption for Morgan Wallen Radio, which debuted as a permanent SiriusXM channel earlier in 2026.
Finally, to this point in 2026, SiriusXM’s upgraded app is “on pace for the highest average listening time and most active days per listener since” debuting in late 2023, Witz added.
Looking ahead to the remainder of 2026, execs are anticipating “a more challenging fourth quarter for self-pay subscriber trends,” including because of expected conversion difficulties and further “discipline around promotional acquisition.”
Nevertheless, the company also upped its full-year guidance – now including revenue of $8.55 billion and adjusted EBITDA of $2.65 billion, both up $25 million – due in part to subscribership trends and savings initiatives.
During today’s trading, SiriusXM stock (NASDAQ: SIRI) surged by almost 5% to $28.67 per share. But at the time of this writing, after-hours shifts had placed the price at closer to $28.
