COLD WAVES FEST CHICAGO / LA / AUSTIN

Industrial/goth festival Cold Waves happens in three cities this year — Los Angeles (9/11 & 9/12), Chicago (9/24-9/27), and Austin (9/18) — with Stabbing Westward, Pig, 16 Volt, and Acumen Nation playing all three with lineups varying by city.

RIDE

Shoegaze greats Ride are back in action, having announced their first shows in nearly two years — and first since Andy Bell went out with Oasis on their reunion tour — for a UK run of shows in February.

JIMMY EAT WORLD / THE FORMAT AT HOLLYWOOD BOWL

Jimmy Eat World and The Format are playing a big LA shows under the stars at Hollywood Bowl on November 7.

ROCKET FROM THE CRYPT

Rocket from the Crypt have announced a new run of dates, for the occasion of the release of Scream, Frankenstein, Scream!, which a press release describes as “a collection of early configurations of songs that would eventually turn into the band’s seminal release Scream Dracula Scream.”

THAO announced her first album in six years along with a few release shows.

ICONA POP

Swedish duo Icona Pop, who had a Top 10 hit in 2012 with the Charli XCX-penned “I Love It,” are playing a few US shows this fall in support of new album Ritual including Brooklyn’s Baby’s All Right on September 25.

FRIENDLY FIRES

Late ’00s era indie dance group Friendly Fires, who had such blog hits as “Paris” and “Skeleton Boy,” are on tour with Two Door Cinema Club in September, have announced a Brooklyn headline show, playing Elsewhere Zone One on 9/28.

RACECOURSE

Santa Cruz emo band Racecourse released their debut album July, December, one of our favorite emo albums of the year so far, on New Year’s Eve, and they’ve announced an East Coast tour supporting it.

MOUNT EERIE

Phil Elverum has a few West Coast Mount Eerie shows lined up in September, and now he’s announced a few more on the East Coast, with Mirah and Ruth Garbus opening depending on the date.

AND ALWAYS FOREVER FESTIVAL

The third annual And Always Forever festival happens November 6-8 at the Echo and Echoplex in Los Angeles and this year’s lineup includes The American Analog Set, Carissa’s Wierd, Sassy009, Dutch Interior, james K, Sophia Stel, Rockie Rode, and more.

EAR

Buzzy New York/London “indietronica” duo ear released their sophomore album Rumspringa in May, and they’ve now announced a fall tour supporting it. Slauson Malone 1, Quiet Light, Bby Kell, NEW YORK, Happydranker, and wackoes each open shows.

THE NATIONAL

Do you like sad indie rock, the beach and delicious pinxtos? You are in luck as The National are playing their first show in two years in San Sebastián on October 18. The show doubles as a 50th birthday party for Aaron and Bryce Dessner.

RACHEL CHINOURIRI

Rachel Chinouriri has announced her second album and a few North American dates supporting it.

LOCUST

Locust, aka electronic composer Mark Van Hoen, will celebrate his new album with NYC and LA shows.
