Cult classic 1981 concert film
The film is a bit of an ur(gh)-text for Revolutions Per Movie — which is hosted by Chris Slusarenko who plays in Eyelids, spent time in Guided By Voices, and owned Portland’s much-missed Clinton Street Video — with dozens of episodes dedicated to the doc, featuring his fellow Professor of URGH, Chaki, and many of the musicians featured in it as guests. They probably even know how to correctly pronounce Splodgenessabounds.
The tour will have the Professors Of Urgh URGH! offering up a live presentation about the film at every screening. West Coast Dates happen in August with different special guests depending on the city (many still TBA); East Coast dates are in October, and the Boston and NYC stops will be with Gang of Four drummer Hugo Burnham.
That NYC screening is at Nitehawk Prospect Park on 10/12 (35mm print!) and there’s also a Jersey City screening at WFMU Monty Hall on 10/14 which is with WFMU’s Evan “Funk” Davies as special guest. Tickets will be on sale soon.
