Very sad news: L7 bassist Jennifer Finch has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer. As the band write, “Following multiple surgeries and serious complications, Jennifer now requires extensive medical care, rehabilitation and professional in-home support. Friends, family and L7 have launched a GoFundMe to help cover these urgent expenses and allow her to remain safely at home with the care, dignity and support she needs.”

Please donate to the GoFundMe if you can.

L7 are still going on The Last Hurrah tour this fall, but Jennifer will not be joining them. The band write: “Although she will not be able to join us for the upcoming U.S. dates, Jennifer has asked us to continue with the tour as planned. We will honor her request while making her care and well-being our immediate priority.”

More about Jennifer’s situation from the GoFundMe is below.

When she first heard the diagnosis, there was reason to believe that treatment, including a full course of radiation, would get her back to some version of normal living. Unforeseen complications led to multiple surgeries and a string of difficult setbacks.

The cancer and everything that comes with it have left her with significant physical limitations so she’s handling this the only way she knows how: one day at a time.

The level of care Jennifer needs has gone beyond what friends and family can safely provide around the clock. As we face the difficult reality that Jennifer may have more good days behind her than ahead, we are asking for help to make the time she has with her friends, family, and fans as comfortable, meaningful, and full of love as possible.

  • We’re raising funds to help cover:
  • Professional in-home nursing care, physical and speech therapy, medical equipment, and other essential care
  • Cover home-care expenses that will allow Jennifer to remain safely and comfortably at home
  • Recoup significant out-of-pocket medical expenses and legal fees
  • Preserve Jennifer’s legacy by creating an archive of her artistic and creative work
  • Completion of a significant creative project that was scheduled for release next year

The cost of giving Jennifer the care she needs is overwhelming, but it’s what gives her the best chance for meaningful improvement while maintaining as much comfort, dignity, and independence as possible. These funds will also help to ensure Jennifer’s life work keeps making noise long after this moment.

If you’re able to contribute, every donation, no matter the amount, will go directly toward Jennifer’s physical and emotional well being. If donating isn’t possible, sharing this page is another meaningful way to help. You never know who might see it.

On behalf of Jennifer and from all of us who love her: Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support during this incredibly difficult time. Every donation, every share, and every message reminds Jennifer that she is surrounded by a community that cares deeply for her.
