TWISTED TEENS

IONIA FREAK FAIR 2026 (BOOKED BY BILLY STRINGS)
We were just talking about Turnstile, Olivia Rodrigo, and Deftones curating crazy, genre-and-era-defying lineups this week, but bluegrass star Billy Strings just might take the cake. He’s bringing his love of heavy music to Michigan’s Ionia Freak Fair (August 28 & 29 at Ionia Fairgrounds) with a stage he helped curate that features hardcore vets Bane, death metal vets Cryptopsy, grind/mathcore vets See You Next Tuesday, and more.
SMERZ
Norwegian duo Smerz have canceled their September tour of the US and Mexico “due to health reasons.” “Traveling and playing big city life across the US has been one of the biggest experiences for us since releasing this album and we hope we can come back again soon.”
AMERICAN FOOTBALL
American Football’s North American tour now begins in Brooklyn.
ANGELO DE AUGUSTINE
Southern California-based singer-songwriter and Sufjan Stevens collaborator and labelmate Angelo De Augustine will be on tour later this year in support of new album Angel in Plainclothes. Dates include an NYC show at Le Poisson Rouge on October 6.

WINGED WHEEL
Winged Wheel are taking a slimmed-down, trio version of the band — Fred Thomas (Tyvek), Steve Shelley (Sonic Youth) and Cory Plump (Tubby’s Kingston) — on the road in August. The tour kicks off at Tubby’s on 8/8, then heads to Northampton, Portland (ME), Boston, and Easthampton before wrapping things up in Brooklyn on 8/23 at Union Pool.

VICTORYLAND
Victoryland will be opening for LCD Soundsystem later this year but you can see them tonight (6/26) at ErF in Brooklyn with Sex Week, Many Shining Windows and Tal Castle. They’ll also play The Hancock on July 10 with Fernette and Fashion.

GORILLAZ’S HOUSE OF KONG
After staging their “House of Kong” exhibition in Los Angeles earlier this year, Gorillaz have announced they’re bringing it to NYC and is open from 10 AM-10 PM daily. It runs from September 1-28 at the Agger Fish Building at Brooklyn Navy Yard — the same place where the excellent Radiohead exhibition is currently — and that’s just ahead of their show at Madison Square Garden.
GOTOBEDS
Pittsburgh’s Gotobeds have a short Midwest tour in August, playing Columbus, Cincinnati, St Louis, Lawrence, Denver, Omaha, and and Kansas City.

A JOHN WATERS CHRISTMAS TOUR 2026
It’s not even July yet but John Waters is already making his list and checking it twice for where he’ll be going on his annual A John Waters Christmas tour this year.
