Since the launch of Snapchat’s Lens+ premium subscription model last year, the company has stepped it up with even more exclusive Lenses and other immersive AR experiences to keep its paid Snapchatters satisfied. Now, the company is expanding the offering with a suite of new AI-powered creative tools exclusively for Lens+ subscribers, letting Snapchatters turn Chats into original songs, remix a friend’s Snap, give stickers new looks, clean up existing Snaps, and more.
To generate a song from chat messages, users can select a message and a genre and let the AI go to work translating it into a song. The idea comes from the current trend on short-form video platforms of users generating songs from chats, and now social media companies are starting to cash in on that trend with their own AI models.
“Not every great Snap happens with perfect timing,” says Snapchat. “With AI Photoshoot, quickly clean up those almost-favorite photos—whether someone blinked, looked away, got caught making a funny face, or simply stuck in some bad lighting—so you can share the moment you meant to capture without needing to retake the shot.”
The AI Remix option allows users to recreate images with entirely new contexts, alongside AI-enhanced fonts, stickers, and textures. These new features are now available to paying Snapchat users who have the Lens+ subscription, while Snapchat+ subscribers are also receiving additional tools and benefits. With the ability to create a 3D model of their home for display on the Snap Map, Snapchat+ users can select a location and customize their home’s appearance for their trusted contacts to enjoy.
While the details behind what powers Snapchat’s new AI tools haven’t been fully disclosed, the company has a long list of deals with major and indie music labels and publishers, including UMG, Sony, WMG, Warner Chappell, Kobalt, BMG, MERLIN, NMPA, and DistroKid. It’s unknown whether any of these partnerships will or have played a role in Snapchat’s AI song-generating tools.
