Post Malone’s impressive NFL Thanksgiving Day performance for the Dallas Cowboys vs. Kansas City Chiefs game saw a heartfelt tribute to the late Marshawn Kneeland. Kneeland died by suicide on November 6 in Plano, Texas, after evading police in what was initially meant to be a routine traffic stop.
The 30-year-old rapper-turned-country star performed at the game in his home state on Thursday, November 27. Malone played a medley of three songs at the game, including “Wrong Ones,” “Wow,” and “I Had Some Help.” At the end of his set, he paid tribute to late Dallas Cowboys player Marshawn Kneeland.
“I love you so much, Dallas, Texas,” the singer addressed the crowd. “I hope everybody has a great night. I hope everybody has a happy Thanksgiving, and I love you more than I could ever say.”
“And we love you, 94. We love you,” Malone added in reference to Kneeland, whose jersey number was 94 during his time with the Cowboys.
The performance wasn’t Posty’s first rodeo; he made a surprise appearance during Beyoncé’s Christmas Day halftime show in Houston last year, joining her for a performance of their song “LEVII’S JEANS.” He also sang “America the Beautiful” at the Super Bowl in Las Vegas in 2024.
His halftime show comes just six months after he performed his sold-out hometown show during his Big Ass Stadium Tour in support of his F-1 Trillion album.
“I’m from Texas. I grew up a Cowboys fan and have been watching this halftime show for years,” said Malone of his performance. “It’s a real honor to be part of the Red Kettle Kickoff with The Salvation Army and the Dallas Cowboys and help bring hope to so many people.”
