Jack White invites Twin Temple to open for him after they were dropped from Charley Crockett shows

Self-proclaimed “Satanic doo-wop” duo Twin Temple were scheduled to open two shows on outlaw country artist Charley Crockett‘s upcoming tour, but they’ve since been removed from the shows. In a statement on their Instagram, they wrote:

Today we were informed that Charley Crockett has decided to remove Twin Temple from his upcoming shows next week due to our Satanic imagery.

Unfortunately, that means we will not be able to perform for you next week as planned. We are really disappointed as we were looking forward to getting back out and seeing you, and also what it meant as far as bringing different types of people and music lovers together. We are sorry to everyone who was planning to see us. We’re grateful for your suppot, not only of Twin Temple, but more importantly of artistic freedom. HAIL SATAN! 93/93

In response, Jack White has offered to have Twin Temple open his September 29 Los Angeles show at Hollywood Palladium, writing, “Let me know. Get in front of me Satan!”

In a reply, Twin Temple wrote, “Unholy hell…. Sir Jack, you have no idea what this means to us. Lifelong fans- dead leaves on the dirty ground was one of the first songs I (Alex) ever learned on guitar. We were actually planning on coming to this show. It would be a most infernal pleasure to play the devils music with you.”

As for Crockett, he made a statement to Rolling Stone, which reads, “I thought they were like Black Sabbath, but they ain’t. Not today, Satan.”

Crockett has also removed all the posts from his Instagram since Twin Temple posted their statement, and on Facebook, he posted a photo of Johnny Cash in front of Melody Ranch, cross prominently visible, with the caption “If they did it to Jesus, imagine what they’ll do to you.”

Jack White, meanwhile, released his new album Frozen Charlotte today and begins his tour supporting it in Washington DC tonight (7/10). He heads to NYC next for shows at Brooklyn Paramount on Saturday & Sunday (7/11-7/12).
