Country Joe McDonald, who led ’60s psychedelic counterculture band Country Joe & The Fish, died on Saturday from complications from Parkinson’s Disease. He was 84.

McDonald is probably best known for his band’s performance at the original Woodstock festival, which included “Not So Sweet Martha Lorraine,” and classic Vietnam War protest anthem “I-Feel-Like-I’m-Fixin’-to-Die Rag” and the preceding audience participation “The Fish Cheer” shout-along which is one of the most memorable moments of the festival’s iconic concert film.

Country Joe and the Fish’s 1967 album Electric Music for the Mind and Body made our list of the 50 Best Albums of the Summer of Love.

Country Joe & The Fish disbanded in 1970, but reformed briefly in 1977, and McDonald led the Country Joe Band from the 2000s on.

Rest easy, Joe.
