Alex G played an intimate (and very sweaty) NYC show at The Ground on the eve of the release of his new album Headlights back in July, and now that he’s begun his fall tour in earnest, he stopped back in NYC for two much bigger shows, at Radio City Music Hall on Wednesday night and Kings Theatre on Thursday. Unlike at The Ground, Alex had a full band with him this time, and at the Kings show, which we went to, he played all of Headlights along with a bunch of older favorites. He also worked in a cover of John Carpenter’s Halloween theme (something he’s done a few times before, and at the same time as Carpenter himself was playing his first show in years in Queens), introducing it by telling the crowd, “it’s a really spooky time of year.”
Nilüfer Yanya is opening this whole tour, and you can see pictures from Thursday night by Emilio Herce below, along with full set video and the Kings Theatre setlist.
