Young N’ Loud Magazine – Interviews

Introduction

Abril Molina stands at the intersection of creativity, technology, and leadership. As a music producer, singer, audio engineer, audio plugin developer, and the owner of Audio Wave Entertainment, her career reflects a rare balance between artistic sensitivity and technical mastery. In this interview, Young N’ Loud explores her journey, vision, and the philosophies that shape her work across multiple dimensions of the music industry.

Q: Young N’ Loud: Your work spans music production, singing, audio engineering, plugin development, and entrepreneurship. How do you currently define your professional identity within the music industry?

A: Abril Molina: I identify as a versatile and multifaceted artist. From a young age, I have had a deeply creative mind and a strong love for art, particularly music. Studying at university broadened my perspective and led me to develop a strong appreciation for technology alongside art. My identity is clear. At my core, I am a singer, but in my thinking, I am an innovator.

Q:  Young N’ Loud: When did music first become an essential part of your life, and what moments confirmed that it would become a lifelong path rather than a temporary passion?

A: Abril Molina: Music has been part of my life since birth. However, it became truly essential during my teenage years. It was my refuge throughout my school years, a time when I was deeply drawn to studying music and had little interest in subjects unrelated to the arts. Although I had always felt that music was my calling, the moment I truly understood this was when I performed my own songs at a festival for the first time. The stage, the applause, the atmosphere, and the emotions I experienced confirmed that this was exactly where I belonged.

Q: Young N’ Loud: As both an artist and a producer, how do you balance emotional expression with technical precision in your creative process?

A: Abril Molina: I always place emotional expression at the forefront, as it is the foundation of meaningful art. Art emerges from emotion, sensitivity, love, and the honest expression of one’s inner thoughts and feelings. Technical precision follows. It serves as the means to translate those emotions into something tangible, something audiences can hear, understand, and feel. Technique is the tool that gives form to art, and achieving harmony between the two creates the perfect balance.

Q: Young N’ Loud: How has your experience as a singer shaped the way you approach music production and sound design?

A: Abril Molina: Interestingly, as a singer rather than an instrumentalist, my creative process is largely voice driven. I begin by singing everything and then use technology to translate those ideas into finished compositions. This approach has helped me develop a very keen ear, allowing me to identify what fits best within a song, envision the exact chords I want, and understand which vocal techniques are most effective in specific passages. Being both a singer and a producer enhances my sensitivity to songwriting, vocal performance, choruses, and arrangement, as many of my ideas originate through the voice.

Q: Young N’ Loud: Audio engineering is often viewed as a highly technical discipline. What motivated you to dive deeply into this side of the industry?

A: Abril Molina: I believe audio engineering is often misunderstood as being purely technical. To truly understand and shape the music you are producing, it is essential to be a musician, not just a technician. It is about balance, having a sensitive ear, understanding notes, harmony, genres, and musical history, and connecting all of that knowledge with technical production skills. This perspective is what motivated me to become a singer who also contributes meaningfully to the technical side of music creation.

Q: Young N’ Loud: Can you describe the learning curve you experienced while developing your skills as an audio engineer, and how it influenced your confidence as a professional?

A: Abril Molina: To be honest, when I face particularly challenging projects, I sometimes still feel like a first-year college student who knows very little about production. However, I push through by reminding myself of my capabilities and proving that I can rise to the challenge. I see myself as being on a constant learning curve. While I am no longer a beginner and have gained significant experience over the past five years, I continue to grow through both the highs and the challenges of the learning process.

Q: Young N’ Loud: You are the founder of Audio Wave Entertainment. What was the original vision behind creating the company?

A: Abril Molina: Audio Wave Entertainment was created out of the need to present my music production projects through the identity of a company. Rather than functioning as a personal label, since my artistic identity stands on its own, I wanted a professional structure that would add credibility and clarity to my work. Over time, I began offering services under this name, which allowed me to grow within the freelance industry while operating as a company. Although I continue to provide these services today, my long term vision is to evolve Audio Wave Entertainment into a company that helps shape the sound of the future, with a focus on developing virtual instruments.

Q: Young N’ Loud: What challenges did you face when transitioning from an individual creative role into a leadership and business-oriented position?

A: Abril Molina: One of the main challenges was learning to balance my artistic instincts with the responsibilities of leadership and business. Moving from creating solely for myself to making decisions that affect projects, clients, and long term vision required a shift in mindset. I had to develop confidence not only in my creative voice, but also in my ability to communicate, structure ideas professionally, and make strategic decisions.

Q: Young N’ Loud: How does Audio Wave Entertainment differentiate itself within a competitive and fast evolving music industry?

A: Abril Molina: My vision for Audio Wave Entertainment is rooted in my strong belief in the healing power of sound and music, as well as the connection between the mind, meditation, and creativity. Through the development of virtual instruments and tools, I aim to help others create music that comes from the soul and supports emotional and mental well being. I believe this approach will help shape the sound of the future, as it represents an innovative and rapidly growing niche.

Q: Young N’ Loud: Audio plugin development requires both musical intuition and software knowledge. What inspired you to begin developing plugins?

A: Abril Molina: This is a relatively new area for me, as I recently completed my first plugin development course. I have close friends in Mexico who run a company called Ear Candy Technologies, and they have been a major source of inspiration for this path. I took the course with them. While it was challenging, especially since I had no prior experience with C plus plus, JUCE object oriented programming, or the mathematical concepts involved, I ultimately understood more than I expected. I continue to practice and develop these skills as I work toward excellence and the long term goals of my company.
