Something Better Change, the documentary about Joe “Shithead” Keithley of D.O.A. that follows his journey from hardcore frontperson to elected Green Party politician, was in theaters last year and has now finally come to VOD. You can rent it now via VEEPS (or watch it as part of your VEEPS All Access subscription).
Something Better Change was directed by Scott Crawford (Salad Days, CREEM) and here’s the official synopsis: “The filmmakers followed D.O.A. frontman Joe Keithley during his 2022 reelection campaign to document the amount of work and commitment that goes into running for public office. Ultimately, this is a documentary film that proves music, political steadfastness and social advocacy can work together to effect real change just about everywhere–including city hall. With Dave Grohl & Jello Biafra.”
We caught an advanced screening recently at Nitehawk in Brooklyn, complete with a Q&A with Scott and Joe after the film, and it was a great watch full of both punk history and modern Canadian politics. You can watch the trailer for Something Better Change below.
VEEPS also has both of Scott Crawford’s other documentaries available to stream: Salad Days: A Decade Of Punk In Washington, DC (1980-1990), and CREEM: America’s Only Rock ‘n’ Roll Magazine.
