first images from Sam Mendes’ 4 biopics

Filmmaker Sam Mendes’ four interconnected Beatles biopics — one for each member of the Fab Four — are still two years away from being in theaters, but they’ve released the first images of Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr, and Joseph Quinn as George Harrison.

The images first appeared on Thursday in the band’s hometown as postcards that were quietly dropped around the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts — that was co-founded by McCartney — campus as well as in locations in Hamburg, New York, and Tokyo, and now Sony Pictures has officially shared all four. Check those out below.

Sony Pictures has also announced that The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event (that’s what they’re calling this, at least for now) will be released in theaters in April 2028. The four films also star Saoirse Ronan as Linda McCartney, Anna Sawai as Yoko Ono, Aimee Lou Wood as Pattie Boyd, Mia McKenna-Bruce as Maureen Starkey Tigrett, James Norton as Brian Epstein, and Harry Lloyd as George Martin.

The screenplays are being written by Jez Butterworth (F1), Peter Straughan (Conclave) and Jack Thorne (Adolescence).
