So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place. It’s our first one since December 19, and it includes some tracks that came out between then and today.
DRY CLEANING – “JOY”
“Recently I’ve felt pessimistic about the world,” Dry Cleaning singer Florence Shaw says in regards to “Joy,” which closes their new album Secret Love that’s out this week. “The influence of what they call ‘the manosphere,’ the genocide against Palestinians continuing despite huge protests, the rise of the racist Reform party in the UK, the promotion of AI in art and music. I wanted to try and stoke my drive to stay positive and spread softness and compassion. The wishes in the song have a naive quality.”

THE CRIBS – “NEVER THE SAME”
“We wrote Never The Same the evening that we returned home from Italy, after playing Louis Tomlinson’s ‘Away From Home’ festival,” says bassist/singer Gary Jarman. “The night before, we had been talking with Louis’ manager about maybe writing and/or producing some tracks for his next LP, so upon our return to Wakefield we got to work and banged this out, fully formed, in a couple of hours. And then we became attached to it and decided to keep it for ourselves! I think that the freedom of conceiving it for someone else just meant that we didn’t overthink anything, and just got straight to the point – it came together fast. So yeah, in an alternate timeline it could’ve been a Louis song.” The Cribs’ new album Selling a Vibe is out this Friday.
