Detroit’s Protomartyr wrapped up a short December tour celebrating the 10th anniversary of their third album, The Agent Intellect, over the weekend with shows at Brooklyn’s Warsaw on Friday night and Philly’s Underground Arts on Saturday. Photos from Brooklyn by Edwina Hay are in this post.
Protomartyr played The Agent Intellect — which includes “The Devil In His Youth,” “Why Does it Shake?,” “Cowards Starve” and more — in full, and frontman Joe Casey said this would likely be the last time some of the songs from the album would ever be played live. That was followed by a second set pulled from the rest of their catalog, including “Scum, Rise!,” “Jumbos,” “Elimination Dances,” and “Worm in Heaven.”
The Warsaw show was opened by Gift Horse, the newish duo of Jonathan Schenke (P.E., Eaters) and Matthew Hord (Pop. 1280, Fine Place), and they were joined on Saturday by Ryley Walker on guitar.
