My Bloody Valentine played “Off Your Face” for the first time ever at their first show in 7 years (setlist)

Ahead of their first official show in seven years on Saturday at Dublin’s 3Arena, shoegaze icons My Bloody Valentine warmed up with a surprise show on Wednesday night. (The show was billed as “Isn’t Anything,” aka the name of their 1988 album.) Initially it was to be at a smaller Dublin venue but demand had it moved to the 2000-capacity National Stadium. Technical problems with their ticket scanner meant people didn’t actually get into the club till nearly 9 PM — they ended up giving up on scanning and just letting people in.

For those hoping for new songs, sorry, out of luck, but they did give Glider EP‘s “Off Your Face” its live debut. Otherwise it was a nice mix of tracks from throughout their discography, including “Honey Power,” “Only Shallow,” “New You,” “To Here Knows When,” “Thorn,” “Cigarette in Your Bed,” “Come In Alone,” “Soon,” and more. As usual, the night ended with the noise-fueled tinnitus-inducing “You Made Me Realise.” Check out the full setlist below.

After Saturday’s Dublin show, MBV will play Manchester, London, and Glasgow, and then head to Japan in February. After that it’s nothing till Primavera Sound in June. Let’s hope they add North American shows!
