8 New Songs Out Today

adminLevel Up7 hours ago7 Views

So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.

MAN/WOMAN/CHAINSAW – “ONLY GIRL”

London band Man/Woman/Chainsaw have signed to Fiction Records (The Cure, The Horrors, Jehnny Beth) and have released their first single for the label. “Only Girl” was produced by Margo Broom and Seth Evans, who worked on Geordie Greep’s solo debut, and is soaring indie rock that’s hard to pigeonhole but easy to like. “’Only Girl’ is our playful love song,” say bassist and singer Vera Leppänen. “Built around a ripping violin top-line and birthed from a grungy guitar jam, it gradually became something more boisterous and altogether more joyful – a total declaration of love. We had a lot of fun making it.”

DILES QUE NO ME MATEN – “MANOS DE PIEDRA (REVISITADA)”

Mexico City psych band Diles Que No Me Maten have shared this expansive, enticing head trip of a new single. Singer/saxophonist Jonás Dérbez says, “This is an old song from our first album that we’ve been playing in a different way this past year. We decided to re-record it and re-release it because it felt great to see how the same ghost of that song has grown within us. It’s not pretending to be better than the first one, it’s just from another space and time. It was recorded in a self-made studio in Caleta Gallery in Santamaría de la Rivera, CDMX, along with some new ones that will soon make an album.”

SVALBARD – “IF WE COULD STILL BE SAVED”

UK post-hardcore/post-metal band Svalbard are sadly calling it quits, and they’re going out with a bang. Their final song “If We Could Still Be Saved” is towering, goosebump-inducing stuff.

METHOD OF DOUBT – TOTAL SOUL IGNITION EP

Florida melodic hardcore band Method of Doubt broke up when they were still a new, rising band, but thankfully they decided to come back for more and this new EP is a ripper.

PEAER – “BUTTON”

NYC indie band Peaer have announced their first album in about seven years, Doppelganger, due January 16 via Danger Collective. Here’s the sleepy, slacker-y lead single “Button.”

ACTIVE CHILD – “COMING UP”

Active Child is back with his first new music in 5 years, “Coming Up.” “The descending guitar structure naturally shaped the lyrics and theme toward self-reflection,” he says. “‘Coming Up’ is about sorting out who I am—my identity as an adult, a father, and a husband—and trying to reconcile that with what can sometimes feel like a self-absorbed journey as an artist. In many ways, it encapsulates where I am now in my life and sets the tone for what’s coming next for me musically: a search for balance between my creative path and my role as a parent and partner.”

GAY MEAT – “LOVE FOR FUN”

Gay Meat, the solo project of Karl Kuehn (Museum Mouth, Say Anything), has signed to Skeletal Lightning and his first single for the label is a leftfield indie rock song called “Love For Fun.”

This is from Animal Collective’s soundtrack to new Hurricane Sandy documentary Jetty.
