Levana conjured a spell of seductive destruction in her shadowy alt-pop track, ‘Self Sabotage’ –

With Self Sabotage, Levana plunges into a rabbit hole of frustration, fuelled by the kind of anger that bubbles up after yet another spiral of self-destruction. This is not a track that plays the victim. Levana takes full accountability and threads it through a moody, synthy, modernist spin on 80s pop. Her vocals leave no illusion that she didn’t stand naked in her own painful admission. Self Sabotage is a visceral ride through one of the most devastating human proclivities: the ability to see the goalposts and move in the opposite direction of them.

The dark oscillations of alt-electronica wrap themselves around the fervently syncopated beats, building a sonic adrenaline rush that mirrors the jolt in your chest every time you’ve knowingly stood in your own way. There’s no pandering here, no sugar-coated melancholy. Just the raw pulse of self-awareness, played out through haunted synths and bruised vocal delivery.

Drawing from electronic underground, witch house, and dark wave, Levana alchemises emotional sensory experiences. Her haunting synth melodies and heavy basslines carry the weight of lyrics laced with themes of toxic relationships, mental health turmoil, escapism, and abandonment. Visually, she’s as bold as she is sonically. Gothic fashion, witchy symbolism, and violet-toned palettes saturate her aesthetic, adding a cinematic dimension to her already immersive sound.
