Amen pulls you out of the haze of day-to-day conditioning and sits you down in front of your own soul. Through little more than an acoustic guitar, 70s-pop-infused pianos, orchestral strings, and a voice so rich it could make the Forbes list, Todd Michael Chapman takes you through a sermon in self-reclamation. The track exhales like a prayer whispered over a cracked altar, offering the kind of quiet catharsis that snaps the static from your thoughts and puts you back together in a way that feels almost holy. Its unhurried pace and stripped-back arrangement give you space to feel, to stop reaching for the distractions modernity keeps pressing into your palms, and let music do what it was always meant to: hold you steady.
Born and raised in Western New York, Todd Michael Chapman has spent decades pouring himself into the craft, with his melodic rock roots steeped in blues and country influences. After early club shows around Buffalo and a break to raise a family and build a career in Phoenix, Chapman returned to songwriting during the pandemic, creating the songs that shaped his 2022 debut EP Now & Again. Amen feels like the natural continuation of that resurgence, bringing the depth of lived experience to a track that could sit on the B-side of an iconic 70s rock LP. It is a hymn for autonomy, a reminder to see through your own eyes when the noise of the world threatens to drown you out.
Amen is now available on all major streaming platforms, including Spotify.
