Over the weekend, Jay-Z returned to SoFi Stadium for the final two performances of his JAŸ-Z30 Los Angeles celebration. Following Friday’s sold-out opening performance, the hip-hop legend took the stage for a second sold-out night of music spanning his three-decade career. The Los Angeles shows followed sold-out performances in New York, London, and Paris.
On Friday, Blue Ivy Carter, Jay-Z’s daughter with wife Beyoncé, was one of his special guests, playing the keyboard during “The Story of OJ” and “Dead Presidents.” Her proud mother watched on from a suite alongside her former Destiny’s Child bandmates, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams.
Saturday night, Jay kicked off the set with “The Watcher 2” before he brought out Oakland rap legend Too $hort for “Blow the Whistle.” He kept the momentum going with “Izzo (H.O.V.A.)” and “Beach is Better.” Jay-Z also honored the legacy of the late Nipsey Hussle by incorporating elements of “Hussle & Motivate” into “Hard Knock Life” and “On to the Next One,” which also featured the instrumental from “Last Time I Checc’d.”
Jay-Z surprised the crowd by bringing out Snoop Dogg for “Murder Was the Case” before welcoming Dr. Dre as well for a run of West Coast classics, including “The Next Episode,” “California Love,” “Nothin’ but a ‘G’ Thang,” and “Still D.R.E.” He closed out the night with a final run of fan favorites, including “Empire State of Mind” and “Big Pimpin’” before playing “Public Service Announcement (Interlude)” and “Encore” to bring the night to a close.
Among the star-studded guests spotted in attendance over the weekend were Lizzo, Yo Gotti, Tiffany Haddish, Anthony Andersson, Jessica Alba, Vanessa Bryant, Aleali May, Alyssa Milano, B2K, Schoolboy Q, Snoh Aalegra, Ab-Soul, Dan Reynolds, Hit-Boy, Wizkid, Corey Gamble, and Keith Powers.
