While Helena credits artists such as Depeche Mode, Muse, Lady Gaga, and New Order as musical influences, she also looks beyond music for inspiration. Noir films, architecture, photography, and the quiet beauty of cities after midnight all helped shape the emotional landscape surrounding the release.

Every song begins not with lyrics, but with emotion. Helena first works with her collaborators to establish the atmosphere of each track, discussing its mood, energy, and overall direction before melodies begin to take shape. Only after connecting with the music emotionally does she begin writing lyrics.

“I write 100 percent of my own lyrics,” she says. “They’re usually inspired by personal reflections, emotions, or questions I’m trying to answer myself.”

Although Helena leads the creative vision, collaboration remains central to the recording process. Working closely with musicians and producers, she encourages ideas that strengthen the arrangements while remaining true to the emotional identity of each song.

One of the biggest surprises came during the production of Under The Lights. Originally imagined as an alternative pop track, the song gradually evolved into something much closer to alternative rock.

“We didn’t force that change it simply felt right,” Helena says.

The transformation ultimately became an important part of the project’s identity, creating a sound that more accurately reflects the direction she plans to continue exploring.

Not every challenge came from the creative process itself. Working within a limited budget meant every decision had to be carefully considered. Rather than viewing those limitations as setbacks, Helena and her team embraced them as an opportunity to become more intentional, proving that strong artistic vision can often outweigh expensive production.

Emotion remains the project’s strongest thread. Helena admits that Under The Lights is one of the most vulnerable songs she has written, revisiting previous versions of herself while confronting feelings of admiration, regret, acceptance, and personal growth.

“I hope they remember that it’s possible to admire who you used to be while still choosing to become someone new,” she says. “Growth doesn’t mean rejecting your past it means carrying it with you while continuing to evolve.”

That message extends beyond the music itself. Helena hopes listeners walk away feeling immersed in the world she’s created one filled with city lights, memories, unanswered questions, and hope.

More importantly, she wants people to feel understood.

Looking ahead, Helena views this release as the foundation for everything that follows. An official visualizer, another single, her debut EP, live performances, and future collaborations are all part of a broader artistic vision that will continue unfolding over the coming months.

For Helena, this isn’t simply another release it’s the beginning of something much larger.

When asked why now is the right time to share this project, her answer is immediate.

“Because I finally know who I am as an artist.”
