Turnstile’s Coachella set introduced by Brendan Yates’ dad following murder attempt

Turnstile already have some shows under their belt this year — they started off the year on tour in Australia, and more recently were in South and Central America — but their weekend one set at Coachella was their first since their ex-guitarist, Brady Ebert, was arrested for the attempted murder of frontman Brendan Yates‘ father, Bill Yates. The band had released a statement saying that Bill “has successfully undergone surgery, and we’re hoping for the best possible outcome in his recovery,” and Coachella attendees, and those watching at home on the livestream, got an update on his condition when he introduced their set. In a video shown before their performance at the Outdoor Theatre, he said, “I’m Bill Yates, I’m the proud father of Brendan. They’re all sons of mine. They’ve been practicing at the house for about 13 years now. Just recently, they grew too big for the basement. And finally, after a dozen years practically, they’re at a point where, the larger the venue the better, because they just enjoy the energy. All the fans out there, we love you, and Turnstile loves you. And enjoy the ride.” Watch video below.

Turnstile also showed love to the late Bo Lueders of Harm’s Way and the HardLore podcast, who passed away earlier this month, with “BO” in a heart on one of their amps. Drain also honored Bo at Coachella, with a “Bo Forever” shirt hung on one of their amps. See both of those below.
