CLAP YOUR HANDS SAY YEAH SOLO PIANO SHOWS

Says CYHSY’s Alec Ounsworth of his upcoming solo piano tour: “On the the heels of an amazing 20th anniversary full band tour around the world, I am excited to soon present more naked versions of Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, for Piano and Voice. Essentially, this is an opportunity for me to put forward my songs for Clap Your Hands in their starkest form. After having done shows in this form in Europe, this will be the first round of shows of this kind in the United States. Doing the material in this way has been a chance to connect with the work on an intimate and new (but familiar) level. Be ready for some raw emotion — precisely what I, for one, need at the moment.” He’ll play Kingston on January 17 at Assembly and NYC on January 18 at Le Poisson Rouge.

NEW ENERGY FEST

Clean energy organizations DER Task Force and SOLARPUNKS are teaming up with our friends at AdHoc to throw an entirely solar powered music festival. New Energy is a sequel, of sorts, to last year’s solar powered Brooklyn show, and it happens on Saturday, October 18 at Governors Island‘s Parade Ground. The lineup includes Eartheater, Junglepussy, Doss, GIFT, and Ivan Berko.

CLOCKWISE / THE REUNION SHOW

Two veteran Long Island bands, Clockwise (one of former Taking Back Sunday member Eddie Reyes’ many early bands) and The Reunion Show (featuring Sainthood Reps’ Derrick Sherman and Action Action’s Mark Thomas, Adam Manning, and Clarke Foley), are reuniting for what will be each of their first shows in years.

INK & DAGGER

Following a billboard teaser in Philly, Ink & Dagger have announced that reissues of their entire catalog are coming out on Halloween (10/31) via Trust Records, the same label that’s been responsible for recent reissues by such classic hardcore bands as 7SecondsCircle Jerks, and SSD. They’ll also be playing three hometown reunion shows Halloween weekend at the First Unitarian Church, with support from Paint It Black on 10/30, Deadguy on 10/31, and Soul Glo on 11/1.
