So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.

TODAY IS THE DAY – “NEVER GIVE IN”

Heavy music legends Today Is The Day have announced their 14th album, Never Give In, due October 3 via SuperNova Records. The newly-shared title track is a six-minute song that finds the band sounding as towering and shapeshifting as ever.

TRACE MOUNTAINS – “THE DARK DON’T HIDE IT” & TEEN SUICIDE – “WHIP POOR WILL” (JASON MOLINA COVERS)

The influence of Jason Molina (Songs: Ohia, Magnolia Electric Co) is everywhere lately, so the timing is perfect for Run For Cover to be releasing a tribute album to him. You’ve already heard the MJ Lenderman and Sun June covers, and now here’s Trace Mountains and Teen Suicide’s lovely renditions of “The Dark Don’t Hide It” and “Whip Poor Will,” respectively.

EVERYTHING IS RECORDED – “WEAR AND TEAR” FT. SAMPHA, FLORENCE WELCH, DANIELLE PONDER AND JAH WOBBLE

XL Records prez Richard Russell is back with another single under his Everything is Recorded guise. As usual it’s a very collaborative affair, with vocals from Sampha, Florence and Danielle Ponder, plus the otherworldly bass playing of Jah Wobble.

MARGARET GLASPY – “JESUS, ETC” (WILCO COVER FT. NORAH JONES)

Margaret Glaspy’s new stripped down, piano-and-voice rendition of Wilco’s Yankee Hotel Foxtrot favorite “Jesus, Etc” is off her new cover and collaboration album Golden Heart Projector, due out September 12 via ATO. It’s a duet with Norah Jones, and Margaret says, “Norah Jones has informed so much of the music I make and to sing a Wilco song with her was a total dream come true.”

THE HIVES – “THE HIVES FOREVER FOREVER THE HIVES”

The Hives love of hyping themselves is part of their charm and that’s front and center on the title track to their new album, The Hives Forever, Forever the Hives. Their self-deprecating humor, meanwhile, is front and center in the song’s gleefully violent video.

SILVER SYNTHETIC – “HAPPY EVER AFTER” & “SAY THE WRONG WORD”

New Orleans’ Silver Synthetic follow up this year’s Rosalie with this new two-song single that blends melody and choogle wonderfully.

JOHN GLACIER – LIKE A RIBBON DELUXE

UK rapper and producer John Glacier released a deluxe edition of her fantastic new album, featuring five new tracks with production from Skrillex, Clams Casino, and Omari Lyseight.

BITCHIN BAJAS “SKYLARKING”

Chicago synth noodlers Bitchin Bajas will release new album Inland See on September 26 via Drag City. First single “Skylarking” is not a cover of Horace Andy’s reggae classic but a tropical breeze does float nicely through it.

DAFFO – “DAGGER SONG”

“Someone I was very close with for a long time decided to stop speaking to me, and I wrote this song about our matching dagger tattoos and about mourning our relationship overall,” Daffo says about the latest single off their upcoming debut album, Where the Earth Bends. “‘Dagger Song’ was written in one go, but it’s a nice example of letting myself sit in my feelings rather than intellectualizing or analyzing them from a distance.”

BLOOM – “WITHERED”

Australian melodic metalcore band Bloom have announced a new album, The Light We Chase, due October 31 via Pure Noise. Here’s the intense new single “Withered.”

ROBERT PLANT & SAVING GRACE – “GOSPEL PLOUGH”

Robert Plant’s new album with Saving Grace arrives next month, and they’ve given us another preview with their rendition of traditional spiritual “Gospel Plough.”

CLIPPING. – “FOREVER WAR”

Experimental rap group are releasing a deluxe edition of this year’s Dead Channel Sky on September 19 via Sub Pop, and it’ll include new single “Forever War.”

ASHES AND DIAMONDS (MEMS BAUHAUS, PIL, SADE) – “ON A ROCKA”

Ashes and Diamonds, the trio of singer/guitarist Daniel Ash (Bauhaus, Love & Rockets), drummer Bruce Smith (PiL, The Pop Group) and Sade bassist Paul Denman, have just announced their debut album and shared its first single.
