Rapper Lil Nas X, whose real name is Montero Hill, pleaded not guilty on Monday (August 25) to four charges after his arrest in the early morning in Los Angeles last week. The artist appeared in person at the Van Nuys Courthouse in Los Angeles to enter his plea.
The rapper was charged with three counts of battery with injury on a police officer and one count of resisting an executive officer. According to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office, all four counts are felony charges.
The 26-year-old was arrested and taken to a hospital for a possible overdose after he was seen walking down a busy Los Angeles street nearly naked in the early hours of August 21. Video captured of the incident shows Lil Nas X walking with confidence in white underwear and cowboy boots.
In the video, the rapper can be heard commenting about being at or going to a party, and stopped to strike a pose several times. He also told the person filming to “put the phone down.”
In footage shared by TMZ over the weekend, the “Old Town Road” star can be seen in the middle of the road completely naked (but blurred to protect his modesty). That he removed his clothes explains how his white cowboy boots ended up listed for sale on eBay Monday morning for $10,000 or best offer.
Last week, a spokesperson for the LAPD said the star was initially taken to a hospital for a possible overdose after his arrest at around 6 AM Thursday. A little over five hours later, Lil Nas X was booked and ultimately spent the weekend in jail pending a court date Monday to set bail.
Representatives for the rapper have yet to respond to media requests for comment.
