Death by Piano raised a strobe-lit feminist monument with the elemental electronica mythology of ‘Fire & Snow’ –

Treating electronica as a rabbit hole of experimentalism where no stylistic influence, cultural reference or phenomenon sits off the table, Brooklyn-based Death by Piano push far beyond the usual contours of beat-driven music on Fire & Snow. Led by singer, songwriter and keyboardist KALEN, with Domenica Fossati of Underground System featured and Eric Zeiler producing, the single joins Death by Piano at their voraciously elemental zenith.

Strings and synths become a strobe-lit holy trinity with Greek mythology for anyone whose altar is wired to distortion, drama and reclamation. Following Pandora from the VOW EP, Fire & Snow once again pulls myth through a feminist lens, with KALEN as Metis and Fossati as Hera, reframing Zeus through goddess-led resistance rather than dusty reverence.

The result is a feisty spiritual incarnation of pop that refuses to orbit what already exists within Brooklyn. Through releases such as Fire& Snow, Death by Piano has become iconic enough to raise their monument of empowered aural art, one built from darkwave-smudged electronica, shoegaze haze and analog-blooded instrumentation. There are touches of Lords of Acid within the obscurity around the rhythms, while Deadmau5 devotees are kept reverent, and the flute detail adds sly theatrical mischief to the track’s mythic charge.

After packed-house shows at NuBlu, Sultan Room, Rough Trade, Union Pool and Elsewhere, Death by Piano stands at the vanguard of strobe-lit feminism.
