Grammy-nominated producer Tay Keith was found dead in his Nashville apartment, police have confirmed. No foul play is suspected. He was 29 years old.

Brytavious Chambers, better known as producer Tay Keith, was found dead in his Nashville apartment on Thursday afternoon, the Metro Nashville Police have confirmed. His body was discovered during a welfare check; his cause of death has not yet been confirmed, but police said no foul play is suspected. Chambers was 29 years old.

Chambers was included in Forbes’ 30 Under 30 Music list in 2025 and was awarded Producer of the Year at the 2024 BMI Awards. He became a Grammy-nominated producer at age 23 for his work on Travis Scott’s “Sicko Mode” in 2018. He also worked with artists like Cardi B, Beyonce, Drake, Eminem, and Sexyy Red.

Born and raised in South Memphis, Chambers started making music around the age of 14, which he posted to YouTube and the hip-hop distribution platform DatPiff. One of the songs he remixed early on was Lil Wayne’s “Lollipop.”

The producer attended Middle Tennessee State University and graduated in 2018 with degrees in integrated studies and media management. He worked with a lot of individuals who also attended MTSU, including Tyland Jackson, his stylist and creative director; and Nicholas Brownlow, his public relations director.

“There wouldn’t be any point for me to come to college if I didn’t want to finish it—I could have just focused 100% on music,” Chambers told MTSU. “By my last week of college, I had my first #1 single, so it didn’t make any sense to drop out.”

“I remember having a flight from New York, and I had a test the same day,” he said. “So, I flew back from New York that morning, went home, then went straight to class. It was crazy. But if I knew that I could do that, then there wasn’t anything stopping me but myself.”

In his final post on Instagram, Chambers promoted Chris Brown’s latest song, “Call Your Name,” which also features Sexyy Red and GloRilla.
