So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.

JEFFREY LEWIS – “MAMDANI FOR MAYOR”

Jeffrey Lewis has created a jingle supporting NYC Democratic Mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdini along with one of his signature comic-style illustrated visual accompaniments. Very catchy!

PARTY DOZEN – “MAD ROOTER”

Aussie sax-n-drums duo Party Dozen are back with this new single that’s got a little John Spencer Blues Explosion energy to it.

HANNAH JADAGU – “NORMAL TODAY”

Hannah Jadagu’s sophomore album Describe arrives this Friday, and ahead of that she’s shared a final advance single, “Normal Today,” which she co-produced with Sora Lopez and Max Baby.

ANNA CALVI FT PERFUME GENIUS – “I SEE A DARKNESS” (BONNIE PRINCE BILLY COVER)

Anna Calvi has launched a Substack where she will share unreleased songs and instrumentals, playlists, released and unreleased live performances, and more. To celebrate the launch she’s shared this ethereal cover of Bonny ‘Prince’ Billy’s “I See Darkness” featuring Perfume Genius. “So many songs are about romantic love,” Calvi says. “But I wanted to highlight the romance of the chosen family, the depth of connection that isn’t tethered to heteronormative ideals. It’s such a powerful song about the yearning for intimacy…I couldn’t think of another singer who could translate this feeling more perfectly than Mike. In this song I am his shadow, and his voice is light itself. Although it’s not meant to be a duet, ‘I See A Darkness’ floats so perfectly into this shape- its yearning feels amplified by two voices.”

HARMONY – “APPLE PIE”

“‘Apple Pie’ is about the price of having boundaries and how self-protection can make us find ourselves alone,” Harmony, formerly of Girlpool, says of her new single.

CARDINALS – “THE BURNING OF CORK”

“The song takes its name from the act of terror inflicted upon Cork City by the British Army’s Black and Tan forces in December 1920,” says Cardinals’ Euan Manning of their new single. “It’s the record at its heaviest and most menacing.” We agree with his description. Cardinals’ debut album, Masquerade, is out February 13 via So Young.

RECOLLECTION – “LESS IS MORE”

Recollection is a new band with members of Haywire, Skinhead, Hammer Bros, Rude Awakening, and more, and their debut EP Vivid Dreams comes out on November 7 via Pop Wig. Recorded by Taylor Young, lead single “Less Is More” finds them churning out anthemic, melodic hardcore.

VIOLENT WAY – “MY DEAREST FRIEND”

Buffalo Oi! band Violent Way have announced a new album, A Need For Something More, due out February 1 via Longshot Music/Contra Records/Battle Scarred Records. The new single is the catchy, grizzly “My Dearest Friend.”

DAZY – BAD PENNY EP

Dazy is back with a surprise new EP, Bad Penny, and it’s got seven songs that tap into various corners of ’90s alt-rock revival.

TWTICHING TONGUES – TWITCHFITS VOL. 3 (MISFITS COVERS)

It’s spooky season, and that means Twitching Tongues are back with a third round of Misfits covers.

MINI TREES – “ON REPEAT”

Mini Trees announced her new album, Slow It Don’t, which she’l self-release on November 7. About new single “On Repeat,” she says, “It’s about the feeling of being caught in a loop… drawn to something or someone you know isn’t good for you, but can’t quite let go of. It’s that intoxicating mix of hope and disappointment, the quiet tension that keeps pulling you back even when you know better. I wrote it the day I downloaded Ableton, just messing around with a new DAW after years of working in Logic. I stumbled on a random arp setting that completely transformed the synth chords I was playing, and that moment of discovery became the backbone of the song – steering it toward a more pop-forward, dance-driven sound that still carries an emotional weight underneath. In the final version, we re-tracked the arp so it weaves in and out of the song, but if it weren’t for that simple discovery, I don’t think this song would’ve come together the way it did.”

DUTCH INTERIOR – “PLAY THE SONG”

Dutch Interior have followed up this year’s great Moneyball with a new single, the gentle and very pretty “Play the Song.” Says Noah Kurtz who wrote and sings it, “I wrote it as sort of an homage to those songs that come around every once in a while and grab you in a very specific but unexplainable way. Maybe it’s an unhealthy attachment or indulgence but you just have to put that shit on repeat until you can’t anymore.”

HANNAH COHEN – “MOUNTAIN” (FLYING CLOUD TAPES)

Here is a wonderful live version of the Fleetwood Mac-y standout from Hannah Cohen’s excellent album Earthstar Mountain.

WESTERMAN – “NEVERMIND”

“‘Nevermind’ is a smirking, bitter little song ruminating on the denigration of meaning by bad agents,” says Westerman of the latest preview of his new album A Jackal’s Wedding.

BICEP + ELIZA “CHROMA 012 TANGZ II”

Northern Irish electronic duo BICEP have announced, CHROMA 000 which collects their many non-LP singles and EP tracks from their CHROMA series. That also includes this new collab with Eliza.

Y – “SKIPPER”

London group Skipper make electro-tinged post-punk and have just released their compelling, saxxy new single via So Recordings. The band say, “We wanted to push the sound we’ve become known for, restless and relentless. Lyrically the track ‘Skipper’ addresses class divide and hierarchy in which the rich skip through a world they feel they own. It is written like an acid trip, full of word play. Sonically, ‘Skipper’ aggresses against the outdated; It takes influences from the best of the past, whilst being firmly set in the now but with an eye on the future.”

SLEAFORD MODS – “THE GOOD LIFE” FT GWENDOLINE CHRISTIE & BIG SPECIAL

If you’ve had a guest appearance from actress Gwendoline Christie (Brienne of Tarth on Game of Thrones) on your Sleaford Mods bingo card, you finally get to fill that square.

MERIC LONG (THE DODOS) – “A SMALL ACT OF DEFIANCE”

The Dodos’ Meric Long will release his first solo album under his own name on Friday and here’s the first single.
