L7’S 40TH ANNIVERSARY W/ LUNACHICKS & CSS
Punk/grunge greats L7 will celebrate their 40th anniversary with a special show on October 17 at The Belasco in Los Angeles. Joining them will be Lunachicks and CSS, which is a killer triple bill. Bring this to NYC! L7 have a few other shows before that and all dates are here.
SUNAMI / SCOWL
Sunami and Scowl are joining forces for a pair of big co-headlining shows this fall on both coasts of the US.
TORTOISE
Tortoise, who will be releasing their first album for International Anthem sooner than later, have announced a few select fall shows, including Chicago with an orchestra, two nights at NYC’s Bowery Ballroom and London’s Barbican Center.
YELLE
North American dates for Yelle’s 20th anniversary tour have been canceled. “The current political climate in the US, especially in regard to immigration and freedom of speech, is very worrying,” Yelle says. “We are now traveling as a family with our young child, so more than ever, we need to feel safe,” adding in what is surely a huge factor as well, “the overall costs of this tour are becoming barely possible to balance and it is putting a great financial burden on us.
PARAGON CLUB REOPENING
Just a few months after shutting its doors, Bushwick dance club Paragon is reopening thanks to Detroit techno legend Kevin Saunderson.
ROBERT PLANT’S SAVING GRACE
Robert Plant and his current band Saving Grace just announced their debut album and an accompanying tour.
BELA FLECK
Bela Fleck & The Flecktones have announced a holiday tour with Jeff Coffin and Alash. Dates include NYC’s Beacon Theatre on December 10.
PISS
Vancouver punks PISS haven’t been together long — to date the only music they’ve released is three demos — but their reputation as an unmissible live act have been growing quickly. They’ll hit the US for the first time this fall, including West Coast dates with Omni and East Coast dates following their appearance at the Pop Montreal festival. The NYC stop on the tour happens September 30 at Trans-Pecos.
HANNAH COHEN
Hannah Cohen, whose new album Earthstar Mother is one of our favorites of the year so far, has a few tour dates coming up, including Seattle, Denver, Grand Rapids, Indianapolis, Minneapolis and Los Angeles. But first, she’ll play a free show at Union Pool on Sunday (7/20) with Evan Wright as part of the venue’s Summer Thunder series.
