Lifeguard announce new 7″, share “Ultra-Violence”; tour with bar italia starts this week

Chicago trio Lifeguard are back with a new 7″ maxi-single, Ultra-Violence, which will be out April 9 via Matador. They recorded it in their own Stulogulo studio and it presents 11 tracks in in 13 minutes, inspired by dubby post-punk. You can get a taste via the scratchy, caustic title track — listen below.

Lifeguard will be on tour with bar italia starting Friday, November 22 at Brooklyn Paramount, which is also with Horsegirl, making the show an all-Matador bill. From there they head to Boston, Montreal, Toronto, Buffalo and Woodstock and all dates are listed below.

Meanwhile, Lifeguard’s Kai Slater will release Balloon Balloon Balloon, his second album of 2025 as Sharp Pins, on Friday. If you dig early Guided by Voices or C-86-style indie guitar pop, it’s very good stuff.
