La Femme’s Marlon Magnée tells us about his favorite albums of 2025

As we finish out 2025, we’ve been asking artists about their favorite albums of the year, and La Femme frontman and co-founder Marlon Magnée told us about 10 albums. Read his picks and commentary below.

MARLON MAGNÉE’S FAVORITE ALBUMS OF 2025

1. DRIFT – At the Party
One of the best producers in the world released his own album. Worked with Manu Chao, Feist and Peaches. Extreme sound accuracy and a perfectly built structure. This album is quite a new sound, my fav!

2. Star Féminine Band – Jusqu’au bout du monde
A huge girl band from Benin Africa mixing rock, highlife and pop. Raw energy, collective strength, and music made to go far beyond borders. very rock n roll mix with African vibes.

3. Brooke Nielsen – Grain of Dirt
Minimal blues folk with a dark, cinematic tension. Brooke is an American legend from our time, I love his band the Growlers, he is one of the best artist right now, the album is really greatly produced and very sad and emotive, this album is like a mix between Jefferson Airplane, Brian Ferry and The Strangers in a country bar.

4. Black Lips – Season of the Peach
Garage rock veterans doing what they do best. Loose, dirty, psychedelic, and somehow still tight. The song is legendary, America can be proud of that band too! The songs are really good and there’s some nasty ballad(s), a good record to listen to in front of the fireplace.

5. Polo & Pan – 22:22
Another French band who have had lots of success in the USA, I love this album with this tropical minimal techno beat with vintage bossa nova or cumbia, the visuals are really trippy and psychedelic.

6. Vincent Taeger & La Jazz Kamasutra – OK Crooner
A crooner record with humor, style and self-awareness. Classic references, Vincent is one of the best drummers in France.

7. Forever Pavot – Melchior vol1
A psychedelic pop project built like an imaginary film soundtrack, Melchior is a robot in the imagination of the band, it’s a way for them to use vocoder and machine voice, it’s a very elegant album.

8. Flora Fishbach – Val Synth
Cold synths, 80’s pop with female voices and a beautiful vintage feeling. A strong artistic identity fully assumed, I invite you to watch the video she did with the great french artist Aymeric Bergada du Cadet, he did an incredible work with them of artistic direction in that project

9. Viagra Boys – viagr aboys
It’s good to know that punk rock is back with them, the album is really bold tempo and energetic, a good album to drive to with friends.

10. Bonnie Banane & Joseph Schiano di Lombo – L’Orguasme
Bonnie is a face of the Parisian underground feminine rap, she is also really fun, her new album went to a medieval style, like traditional European medieval folk, very relaxing.
