The Northwest Indiana alt garage-rock band have built their name on raw regional shows and a staunch DIY ethos, self-producing live takes from a garage in DeMotte, Indiana, with bassist Ryan Farrar shaping mixes that keep the bruises visible.

As the ultimate antidote to the hyper-polished, autonomy-void music we are drowning in now that everyone has decided that using AI to bastardise the airwaves is necessary, Nomad Zero’s tendency to produce their tracks in a way that makes you feel like you should probably treat your speakers to a tetanus shot after hitting play is a breath of caustically fresh air.

Taking the roots of Seattle grunge and distorting them through injections of punk venom and feral metal brutality, Nightmare Eyes scours catharsis into ennui-beaten souls. A constant flux between melodic breaths of grunge in the vein of Alice in Chains and the all-out annihilation of lo-fi post-grunge metal keeps you locked into an adrenalised rush of resonance. The anger pours unadulterated; you can feel the exhaustion of chasing desire when you know the object of it is toxic. It’s probably the realest ‘love song’ you’ll hear all year.
