Mission Spotlight Serenaded Fortitude in the Melodic Rock Gospel of ‘Let it Burn’ –

Prepare for Mission Spotlight to smoulder their way into your soul with their latest single, Let it Burn. The track opens with the unmistakable timbre of a Hammond organ, played by Jenny Conlee, setting the tone with a warm, resonant glow before guitar notes slip into a mellifluous melody in the vein of college radio rock icons. Momentum gathers steadily as marching band drums enter the fold, creating the perfect platform for the crooning, country-folk-tinged vocals delivered by Kurt Foster.

You may want to brace yourself for the first true burst of momentum. Brashy guitar chords arrive with broadsiding emotion-laden propulsion, pushing the arrangement into a sweeping surge that heightens the bittersweet intensity of this serenade. The track pulls listeners through waves of atmosphere and feeling, where restraint and release trade places until the emotional voltage begins to spike in the examination of faith, doubt and memory.

The final build blooms into a gospel-esque, arcane atmosphere, joined by horn blasts from Paul Brainard, chamber strings, and backing vocals by Little Sue, turning the closing moments into nuclear-grade emotive artillery. The song itself carries a story stretching back nearly a decade. Originally recorded during the sessions for the band’s 2015 release Keep the Good Ones Close, the track was rediscovered years later and returned to Larry Crane at Jackpot! Recording Studio for fresh performances and a new mix. Mastering came courtesy of Michael Williams, reconnecting Foster with a long-time collaborator.
